Your Lab Sessions:

Cats Server:

  • Your computer is connected to the cats server;
  • Cats server keeps whatever you save in your "home directory";
  • Any other work that you leave in your computer will be erased.
  • Use your cats username and password to login to your lab computer and access the cats server.

Handy TA:

  • Is a web site that will keep track of your class work;
  • Accessible from any computer on the Internet.
  • Login to the Handy TA with the username and password assigned in this class. These may NOT be the same as cats!
  • To get attendance in lab, you need to SIGN IN after logging in.
  • You can also see all your class grades using the handy TA.

To login to the Handy TA, click on LOGIN in the left margin.

You need to connect to the Handy TA for the following reasons:

  • See the lab assignments;
  • Take online tests;
  • Request attendance during lab sessions;
  • Take online quizzes during lab sessions;
  • Checking your grades;

How do you login to the Handy TA?

  • Usernames and passwords:
    • Handy TA cannot communicate fully with the CATS server.
    • Your password in the CATS server is secret and not available to the Handy TA.
    • For username: try the same username you have for CATS. If that does not work, try your student ID number without dashes. If that does not work, that means the Handy TA was not notified that you are in class.
    • For password: use the four last digits of your ID number
  • If your name is not in the list:
    • You need to go to one of the lab sessions and talk to the supervisor.
    • You will only get in the session if there are less than 18 students assigned to that session.
    • The supervisor can add your name to the Handy TA list, but he or she cannot add you to the registrar's list.
